A big update: a new race, the Ellr, with their own start area, a Male and Female choice for every new character, new loot from the Golden Thief Bug and many fixes. A client update for Windows, Mac and Android plus a big server update.
Early alpha
The Ellr and the Alfheim Training Center are new and in early alpha. Looks, numbers and quests can still change while we tune them. Please tell us what you find with Report a bug in the Esc menu.
- Each Ellr gender has one fixed look: one hair style, one face and Ellr ears. You cannot choose hair, eyes, brows or colours for an Ellr.
- Ellr faces have no facial expressions.
- This update has no Ellr opening story.
- There is no walking exit from the Training Center. To reach Alfheim town, you travel with the Kafra.
Create an Ellr
- Open Create Character.
- In the top row of the card on the right, use the arrow buttons to pick Norman or Ellr. Norman is picked first.
- In the row under it, use the same arrows to pick Male or Female.
- Press Create.
- Norman and Ellr are the only two races.
- When you pick Ellr, the race box shows "Ellr" and a short text about the race.
- The race box now has room for 6 lines of text instead of 3.
- You choose the race once, when you create the character. You cannot change it later.
- All your existing characters stay Normans.
- Only the new game version can create an Ellr. Older versions have no race picker. Please update before you play.
The Ellr
- Ellr are much smaller than Normans. They have a big head and short legs, like a child.
- Ellr have the same moves as Normans, fitted to their small body. They walk, run, turn, fight, use the emote window, take damage and die.
- They stay small in battle stance and when they attack.
- Ellr hold their weapon in their hand. They use the same weapon models as Normans.
- The Ellr girl's skirt stays in place when she fights or uses an emote.
- The player bar shows your Ellr's job and job level, just like for a Norman. For example "Novice" and "Job 1".
- Ellr can take the same jobs as Normans. There are no Ellr-only jobs.
- Ellr have no racial stats or bonuses. A new Ellr gets the same stats, starter items and starter skills as a new Norman.
- The camera is set for the Ellr's smaller size. It looks at the Ellr's head from a little above. The distance is the same as for Normans.
- When you zoom in, the camera stays on the Ellr.
- The Norman camera does not change.
- On Character Select you see your whole Ellr, from head to shoes. The flowers in front stay out of the way.
- Character Select shows each character's race, for example "Ellr / Novice / JLV 1".
- Other players see your Ellr as an Ellr.
- Your Ellr stays an Ellr on the character list and after you log out and back in.
Ellr armour and gear
- Ellr now show most of the armour they wear.
- 865 of the 905 Norman armour models were refitted to the bodies of the Ellr girl and the Ellr boy. We checked each one.
- Girls and boys each get their own version of a piece.
- The refitted armour includes tops, trousers and skirts, gloves, shoes, hats, capes and bags.
- Hats sit on the Ellr's head.
- With short trousers, the Ellr boy shows thin white socks below the hem.
- 40 armour models have no Ellr version. If you wear one, the Ellr shows the default outfit for that slot.
- A hat or back piece that has no Ellr version is not shown.
- The item's stats still count as normal.
- An Ellr has the same gear rules as a Norman: level, job, stats and Male or Female. Each item also checks the race.
- Some head items, face items and bags are for Normans only. Most are hats and helmets, plus some glasses, masks and backpacks.
- Every other equipment slot is open to Ellr. There is no Ellr-only gear.
- Nothing changes for Normans: they can wear the same gear as before.
The Alfheim Training Center
- Every new Ellr starts in the Alfheim Training Center, close to the guard. The Kafra and the shop are a short walk away.
- The Training Center is its own map. It is not part of Alfheim town.
- The Training Center is your save point until you save somewhere else.
- Ellr skip the Norman opening scene. On your first login you start on the Training Center map straight away.
- Nothing changes for Normans. A new Norman still starts in the Adventurer Training Ground, and the Norman opening works as before.
- Three NPCs stand near the start: the guard, who gives the starter quests, the Kafra Migo Alfred and the shopkeeper Misha Berardini.
- The guard's name tag says "Eglon", and he looks like the Eglon guards of Alfheim town. The quest texts call him "the Training Guard".
- 45 monsters live in the Training Center, in 9 groups of 5. The further you walk from the start, the stronger they get.
- Closest to the start: 15 Alfheim Yetrang (levels 2, 3 and 4).
- Further out: 5 Pukui (level 6), 10 PukuPuku (levels 6 and 7), 5 KuiKui and 10 PuiPui (around level 8).
- Misha Berardini sells the same beginner gear as the Norman beginners' shop: Bronze Armor, Birth Shirt, Small leather shield, Fair Li Buckler, Gloves of Adventurer, Gloves of Birth, Training Shoes, Poring Sandals, Mystic Breeches, Practice Breeches, Cotton Breeches, Poring Skirt, Loom Skirt and Trap.
- Ellr can wear this gear. The pieces need character level 5 to 10. The breeches are for male characters and the skirts are for female characters.
Travel with the Kafra
- To go to town, talk to the Kafra Migo Alfred in the Training Center. Choose his travel option, then "Alfheim".
- The trip is free. You arrive next to Migo Alfred in Alfheim town.
- To go back, talk to Migo Alfred in Alfheim town. Choose his travel option, then "Alfheim Training Center".
- The trip back is also free. It brings you back to the start spot.
- Migo Alfred in the Training Center also has his usual Kafra menu next to the new travel option.
- Normans can visit too: Migo Alfred in Alfheim town offers every character a free trip to the Training Center.
- A Norman in the Training Center can use the Kafra and the shop and fight the monsters. The guard has no quests for Normans.
- Other Kafras do not change.
Starter quests
- The guard gives four starter quests, from level 1. They are for Ellr only.
- He offers them in a fixed order. Each one opens after you finish the one before. Go back to him to get the next one.
- You can do each quest once.
- The quest names and texts come in English and Korean.
- Quest 1, "Meet the Training Guard": talk to the guard. The quest is done as soon as you accept it. Reward: 10 Zeny, 12 EXP and 12 Job EXP.
- Quest 2, "Hunt Yetrang": defeat 5 Alfheim Yetrang, then go back to the guard. Only the level 2 Alfheim Yetrang count. Reward: 40 Zeny, 40 EXP and 25 Job EXP.
- Quest 3, "Bigger Monsters": defeat 5 Pukui and 5 PukuPuku, then go back to the guard. Only the level 6 PukuPuku count. Reward: 40 Zeny, 40 EXP and 25 Job EXP.
- Quest 4, "Go to Alfheim": travel to Alfheim with the Kafra Migo Alfred. Then talk to Hozent Byain in Alfheim town. He stands in another part of town, and the quest shows a waypoint to him. Reward: 10 Zeny, 12 EXP and 12 Job EXP.
- Together the four quests give 100 Zeny, 104 EXP and 74 Job EXP. They give no items.
Male and female characters
- On Create Character you can now choose Male or Female, for Normans and for Ellr.
- Any account can make male and female characters of both races. Your account's gender does not limit your choice.
- The picker starts on your account's gender. You can switch it before you press Create.
- Choose carefully: the gender is set when you create the character, and nothing in the game changes it later.
- One account can have male and female characters side by side. Each character keeps its own gender, also after you log out and back in.
- Existing characters get their account's gender. Characters on a female account become female. Characters on a male account become male.
- The game already showed these characters with their account's gender, so they look the same as before.
- If your account has no gender set, its characters become male and now have a male face.
- Other players see each character with its own gender. When you switch to another character, players nearby see that character's gender.
- Character Select, your character in the world and your equipment window all use the character's own gender.
- Gear for men only or women only now checks your character's gender, not your account's gender.
- Some story scenes have a male and a female version. These scenes now follow your character's gender. For example, the first story quest plays its "he" or "she" scene based on the character, not the account.
Golden Thief Bug
- Every Golden Thief Bug kill now drops exactly one Golden Carapace. It is a new material and stacks to 99.
- Shops buy a Golden Carapace for 750 Zeny.
- The Golden Thief Bug can now also drop four gold weapons: Gilded Cutlus, Zeny Knife, Gilded Survivor's Rod and Gilded Ballista.
- At normal drop rates, each weapon has a 2% chance per kill. Each weapon rolls on its own.
- Gear with Item Drop Rate raises these chances, as before. Each point adds a tenth of the chance, so +1 turns 2% into 2.2%.
- Armour and accessories dropped by the Golden Thief Bug can now be Legendary, with a 2% chance per piece.
- Before this update, only bosses of level 31 and up dropped Legendary gear. The Golden Thief Bug is level 25.
- The armour and accessories it can drop are Butterfly Mask, Graffiti Shirt, Belt Of Storm, Patience Steal Armor, Fashion Earring, Attacking Buckle Suit, Ring of Prediction and Trust Smart Student Shirt.
- New Hunting achievement "Gold Digger": defeat the Golden Thief Bug 10 times. It unlocks the title "Gold Digger".
- You can wear the title, and players around you see it.
- Only kills after this update count toward Gold Digger.
The four gold weapons
- Gilded Cutlus (Swordman): ATK 115, weapon level 3, 0 card slots, needs level 25.
- Zeny Knife (Thief): ATK 90, weapon level 3, 0 card slots, needs level 25. Before this update it had ATK 64 and needed level 70.
- Gilded Survivor's Rod (Enchanter): ATK 50, weapon level 3, 1 card slot, needs level 25. It gives INT +3, Max HP +400 and MATK +15%.
- Gilded Ballista (Recruit rifle): ATK 105, weapon level 3, 0 card slots, needs level 25. It gives ranged damage +20%.
- Shops buy each of the four for 500 Zeny.
- The Cutlus that needed level 1 is now the Gilded Cutlus. Its ATK goes from 185 to 115, its weapon level from 4 to 3 and its required level from 1 to 25.
- The Survivor's Rod with INT +3 is now the Gilded Survivor's Rod. Its required level goes from 24 to 25, and its ATK stays 50.
- The rifle that showed a code instead of a name is now the Gilded Ballista. Its ATK goes from 194 to 105, its weapon level from 4 to 3 and its required level from 1 to 25.
- The other Cutlus (ATK 150, level 40) and the other Survivor's Rod (DEX +3, level 24) keep their names.
- No character on the live server has a Gilded Cutlus, Gilded Survivor's Rod, Gilded Ballista or one of the eleven renamed rifles, so nobody's weapon loses ATK. The Zeny Knife only gets stronger.
Rifles and weapons
- Eleven rifles that showed a code instead of a name now have real names: Azure Drake Rifle, Stitched Reaper, Gilded Ballista, Rabbit Revolver, Ember Drake Rifle, Lop-Ear Carbine, Bluesteel Rifle, Boar Tusk Rifle, Gilded Cannon, Hawkeye Sniper and Shark Fin Rifle.
- The new names show in the weapon window, the bag and mail.
- The Gilded Cannon is not a Golden Thief Bug drop.
- Sometimes a weapon stays equipped on a job you are not playing, for example your Novice weapon while you play Thief. You can now take it off into your bag from the job you are playing.
- The weapon keeps its refine and cards. You can then sell it from the bag as usual.
- You cannot sell it straight from the other job. Take it off into your bag first. You need a free bag slot.
- This does not work for some older characters.
- You need the new game version for this. The old version still refuses.
Tooltips
- These weapon tooltips no longer list extra damage against players: Brave Assassin's Damascus, Valorous Assassin's Damascus, Glorious Gladius, Warlock's Battle Wand, Glorious Arc Wand, Glorious Destruction Staff, Lop-Ear Carbine, Bluesteel Rifle and Gilded Cannon.
- The DEF and MDEF bypass lines now name DemiHuman only. This is on Brave Assassin's Damascus, Glorious Gladius, Lop-Ear Carbine, Gilded Cannon, Warlock's Magic Wand, Glorious Arc Wand, Glorious Cure Wand and Glorious Destruction Staff.
- The Tooth Blade tooltip now reads: 5% chance to cast Slow Cast Lv1 on a normal physical hit at refine +0 to +8, and 7% chance to cast Slow Cast Lv2 at refine +9 or +10.
- The Glorious Cure Wand tooltip now reads: at refine +9 or +10, 10% chance to cast Heal Lv10 on yourself after you use Heal.
- The Curved Sword tooltip now reads: Attack delay -10%, and a 3% base chance to Curse on a successful normal physical attack.
- The Covering Fire, Cat Preferable and Gilded Cannon tooltips now name Double Shot instead of Focus Shot.
- For all of these weapons, only the text changed.
- Nunlif Investigator Card, Emerald Tuna Card and Wicked Dun Card no longer show a line about extra damage to one monster. They now read only ATK +5, which is what the card gives.
- 43 tooltips for potions, food, herbs and drinks were rewritten. Most now say what the item does.
- High Red Potion: "Restores 50-70 HP when used and every 1 second for 60 seconds, before healing modifiers."
- Vital Potion: "STR +2, AGI +2 for 15 minutes."
- Red Herbal Leaf: "AGI +2, INT +2 for 15 minutes."
- Shops now show the Trap at its real price of 100 Zeny. The server already charged 100, but the shop showed 4.
- Peco Peco Reins no longer look as if they stack to 99. The server already allowed only one.
- The Trickery and Weapon Destruction tooltips now show their chances instead of "-%".
Professions and shops
- At a profession master, the profession window now keeps working after you close the talk window. Learn, Train, Buy and Unlearn keep working until you walk away.
- You can press the Professions button at a master again and again. Before, only the first press worked.
- New chat lines tell you why something does not work.
- "You already know two professions. Unlearn one at its master first." You see this when both slots are full and you open the master of a new profession or try to learn a third one.
- "You need Alchemy to use this cauldron." You see a line like this at a station of a profession you do not know. There are lines for Cooking, Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Goldsmithing and Alchemy. The station window still opens without recipes, but now it tells you why.
- "You walked too far away." You see this when the window closes because you walked away.
- You can still have 2 professions.
- Fury Potion and Concentration Potion now work. Each one gives +20% attack speed. The Fury Potion lasts 1 minute 30 seconds, and the Concentration Potion lasts 30 minutes.
- Every piece of equipment a shop buys now sells for at least 1 Zeny, also when it is worn.
- 96 pieces that used to sell for 0 Zeny now give 1 Zeny: 78 weapons, 11 armour and accessory pieces and 7 bullet types.
- Weapons, for example: Excalibur, Novice Cutter, Cutlus, Kitchen Knife and Ember Drake Rifle.
- Armour and accessories, for example: Beginners Effort Shirt, Lions Leather Trousers and Peace Order Necklace.
- Bullets: Bullet, Fire Bullet, Water Bullet, Wind Bullet, Earth Bullet, Silver Bullet and Poison Bullet.
- The 1 Zeny minimum also counts when you sell a weapon from the weapon window. Buying an item back works as before.
- Potions and some other items still sell for 0 Zeny, for example Red Potion, Yellow Potion, Royal Jelly and Yggdrasil Berry.
- Broken items still cannot be sold. You also cannot sell a broken weapon from the weapon window now.
- A shop sale that would take you above 4,294,967,295 Zeny is now refused with an error message, and you keep the item. Before, your Zeny dropped to a very small amount.
- 39 trades that could never be finished were removed from 17 traders. Each one needed a material you cannot get, or gave an item the game does not have.
- The removed trades include the +1 to +4 versions of Tie of blood, Sound of Soul, Bonecrusher, Breath of Wind, Burning Anger and Magic Flash.
- All other trades stay, including the Oridecon exchange.
Gathering
- The Glacier Rich Vein can now also give Anima of Light (3) and Glacier Snow. There are 6 of these veins, all on Poro Island in Alfheim.
- The bonus chance on this vein stays 10%. It now picks from 5 items, so each item has a 2% chance.
- On this vein, Anima of Flame (3), Anima of Frost (3) and Anima of Thunder (3) go from about 3.3% to 2%. Their other sources do not change.
- With these new ingredients you can now make the Passion Diamond Ring (Goldsmithing), Yggdrasil Berry (Alchemy) and Poro Island Stew (Cooking). The Passion Diamond Ring still needs its recipe scroll.
- 85 gathering spots were stuck under the ground. They now stand on the ground and you can click them: 67 ore spots and 18 Ymir Cave Mushrooms.
- Outside Hodemimes: 7 Copper Ore.
- Adventurer Training Ground: 6 Copper Ore.
- Cave of Ymir: 8 Copper Ore and 4 Ymir Cave Mushroom, including the ore at 1145, -93 that players reported.
- Southeast of Prontera: 1 Iron Ore.
- Southwest of Prontera: 5 Iron Ore.
- Northwest of Prontera: 5 Iron Ore.
- Cognito West Field: 2 Coal.
- Cognito East Field: 1 Coal.
- Ymir Cave Lv2: 9 Coal and 4 Ymir Cave Mushroom.
- Ymir Cave Lv3: 2 Coal and 10 Ymir Cave Mushroom.
- Alfheim Training Center: 13 Crystal Blue.
- Alfheim Forest: 2 Crystal Blue.
- Forest of Echoes: 1 Coal.
- Blue Echo: 5 Blue Echo Rich Vein.
- Only the height of these spots changed. 19 spots we were not sure about stay as they are.
World
- 12 profession masters and stations were moved, so they no longer stand inside walls or on top of each other.
- Cognito Harbor: the Goldsmith Master (out of the wall), the Fisher Master, the Alchemist Master, the Jeweler's Bench and the cauldron.
- Alfheim: the Alchemist Master, the cauldron, the Jeweler's Bench and one forge piece.
- Forest of Echoes: the Jeweler's Bench and the cauldron.
- Hodemimes: the cauldron, which now stands clear of the pavilion post.
- In Alfheim, Cognito Harbor and Forest of Echoes, the cauldron had stood right on the Fisher Master. In Alfheim and Cognito Harbor, the Alchemist Master had stood right on the Cook Master.
- Cognito West Field: we removed 5 invisible walls inside the map, at places where the land carries on, so you can walk further there. The walls at the edge of the world stay.
- The Nunlif Guards and the Nunlif Chief Guard (level 45) now shoot their rifles from range, like the Nunlif Soldiers. They no longer run in for melee, but they still hit you up close.
- Swimming sea monsters now wander at different depths in the open sea of Outside Hodemimes and Northwest of Prontera. Before, they walked on the sea floor.
- This covers sharks, tuna, Giant Piranha, mermaids, Rainbow Fish and other fish, Parronite and Inky. It does not cover hydras or crabs.
- Caves do not change.
- These sea monsters come closer to swimmers at the surface, so they may notice you a bit more often.
- Outside Hodemimes, wandering sharks no longer swim into or over the big sea rock near the camp (about -178, -235). No sea monster spawns inside it anymore.
- This covers only this one rock, and only while the sharks wander. A shark that chases you can still cross it.
- Underwater, your weapon now stays visible in your hand when you fight in battle stance.
Fixes
- In the Prontera Culvert, Charge no longer leaves you hanging high up under the ceiling vent.
- This works for every Charge. If a Charge leaves you high up with nothing under your feet, you are put down on the floor.
- If you really land on the pipes or on top of a wall, nothing changes.
- If such a Charge started an auto-attack, the auto-attack stops. Click the monster again.
- Not every stuck case is fixed.
- If the game server stops while you play, for example during a restart, the game now shows the "connection lost" message and takes you back to the login screen. Before, the game froze.
- Normal logout, character change and relog work as before.
Known issues
- The tooltips of Gilded Cutlus, Zeny Knife, Gilded Survivor's Rod and Gilded Ballista still show old numbers. The numbers in this post are the right ones.
- The Fury Potion and Concentration Potion tooltips still say the effect is not available. That text is out of date.
- For equipment that used to sell for 0, the shop window may still show 0 Zeny. The shop pays you 1 Zeny.
- The "Hunt Yetrang" quest text shows an extra number after "Yetrang". You can ignore it.
- A Norman in the Training Center may see a quest marker for the guard on the map, but he has no quests for Normans.
Windows, Mac and Android
- Windows and Mac: the new game version is 2026.11.07.1. It downloads through the launcher.
- Windows: the Ellr armour needs about 63 MB more disk space. The download itself may be smaller.
- Android: version 1.2.28. Please update the app before you play.
- You need the new game version (2026.11.07.1) to create an Ellr, to choose Male or Female and to see the Training Center quests.
Start the launcher to get the update.
