NPCs speak for themselves, higher monster levels and stacks of 99

News22 October 2026

A round of fixes from a fresh level 1 playthrough: about 140 NPCs say their own lines again, the higher areas get their original monster levels back, and many small things on the way from the training ground are smoother.

NPCs

  • About 140 NPCs no longer greet you with Kafra Shelphy's words. They have their own greeting again, and Talk gives you something to read. This includes the training ground, the Wing of Wind staff, Albrasia, the Forest of Echoes, the traders and the Cattleya staff.
  • Many Albrasia townsfolk speak English for the first time.
  • Shelphy's Kafra menu lines are her own again.

Monsters

  • Monsters in the higher areas are back at their original Ragnarok Online 2 levels, with matching stats. For example: the Alfheim Dungeon (level 60-78) and Poroporo Island (level 65-70).
  • Special attacks give about a fifth less warning time and hit harder.
  • When a monster dies, its ground warning disappears at once.

Characters and quests

  • Stat points follow RO1 without the rebirth bonus: a level 1 character has 48 points (was 100). The 52 extra points come off your unspent points; points you already spent stay until your next reset.
  • The "Your stats and skills were reset" message only shows when something was really reset.
  • One click on Accept starts a quest. The second question is gone.
  • Quest boards and NPCs only offer quests up to your own level.
  • Stackable items stack to 99.

Game client

  • Hover over a monster's element to see what it is weak and strong against.
  • Options > Game: turn off the camera zoom when you talk to an NPC.
  • Options > Audio: a new Monsters volume slider.
  • Monsters tremble a little while they charge a special attack.
  • Quest marks are back above NPC heads.
  • Battle music: the map music comes back as soon as a fight ends, and a new fight within 10 seconds carries on with the battle track.
  • Special attack warnings no longer show as tall walls indoors.
  • Names of objects you hover now sit next to the mouse pointer at every UI scale.
  • Nights around Hodemimes are dark again in the 2007 look.

Start the launcher to get the update.
