Gear works in a new way. Every outfit in the game can now drop from monsters, from level 1 up to the highest areas, and each piece can come with random bonuses shown by the colour of its name. The level cap also goes up to 99.
Gear drops
- Every monster drops gear that fits its level. The higher the monster, the better the gear looks.
- About one piece of gear for every 6 kills.
Rarity
Each piece of gear gets its rarity when it drops. You can see it in the colour of its name:
- Normal (gray): no extra bonus.
- Rare (green): 1 random bonus.
- Extra rare (blue): 2 random bonuses.
- Epic (purple): 3 random bonuses.
- Legendary (gold): 3 bigger bonuses. Only bosses of level 31 and up drop these.
Bonuses grow with the monster's level. Monsters up to level 10 drop Normal gear only.
Item stats
- Item stats are on one honest scale: the numbers in the tooltip are the numbers used in a fight.
- Hit and Flee from gear are no longer counted twice. Body armour above level 50 gives more defence.
- Some bonuses were far too big and are smaller now: shield block 0.1 to 2%, critical damage up to +10%, walk speed up to +25%, resistances up to 20%, and HP and SP regeneration as a percentage.
- Item Drop Rate on gear is now a small bonus: +10% per point.
Gear for your job
- Gear is made for groups of jobs. You can only put on gear that your job can wear.
Your current gear
- Your old armour and accessories are replaced by new blue (Extra rare) pieces made for your level and your job, for every job you have. Each slot you had gear in gets a new piece, and you are already wearing it when you log in.
- Old gear in your bag and storage goes as well. The looks of your old gear stay unlocked in the Transmog window.
- Weapons, quest items, potions, materials and your other items stay as they are.
Trading
- All items except quest items can now be traded.
Level cap 99
- The base level cap goes up from 50 to 99. The job level cap stays at 50.
Transmog
- Every way of getting an item now unlocks its look in the Transmog window, gifts and event rewards included.
