PTR update 25: the Enchanter (test build)

The Enchanter got a full review, skill by skill.

Its skill list is now: Fire Bolt, Cold Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Napalm Beat, Soul Strike, Fire Ball, Fire Wall, Frost Diver, Increase SP Recovery and Sword Stick Mastery. The old Enchanter skills are gone; skill points you spent on them come back to you.

Choose your skill level: arrows next to each skill in the skill window set the level you cast. Drag the skill to your bar and keep a low and a high level side by side.

A new casting pose, with glowing hands and rings of fire, ice or lightning while you cast.

Fire Bolt, Cold Bolt and Lightning Bolt: one bolt per level falls on your target.

Fire Wall: a wall of fire orbs. Monsters that touch it burn and are pushed back.

Frost Diver: ice bursts out of the ground towards the enemy and can freeze it. A frozen monster turns to water, so lightning hits it extra hard.

Increase SP Recovery: a new passive that restores SP while you stand still.

Your own spell impacts can now be heard from further away.

Start the launcher to get the update.

PTR update 24: the Thief (test build)

The Thief got a full review, skill by skill.

New skill: Venom Splasher. A finisher that spends all your LP: 220% of ATK plus 50% per LP spent (up to 5), and 1.5 times the damage on a poisoned enemy. Needs at least 1 LP; 10 SP, 5 second cooldown.

Envenom: now a 3 m stab, +25 damage per level, 20% to 65% poison chance, and +1 LP when it hits.

Hiding: you can walk while hidden; your first hit from Hiding on a monster deals +10% damage per level. Cooldown 5 seconds.

Double Attack: the double cut now plays, with its own hit effect and sound, and shows the full damage as one big number.

Steal: the grab is twice as fast. When a Steal gets nothing, MISS shows on the monster.

Sand Attack: a big sand cloud. A blinded monster now shows the Blind icon under its name; while blind it hits and dodges 25% less.

Detoxify: can now cure another player (9 m).

Rapid Run: glowing sparks while it lasts.

Find Stone: any weapon, no SP, its own stone icon. Throw Stone is greyed out without a Stone.

Short Sword Mastery: +4 ATK per level with a dagger.

Equipment window: ATK now shows your hit range in one line (lowest ~ highest hit, before the monster's defence).

New and clearer tooltips for all of these.

New client: the launcher updates it for you. Restart the game after the update.

PatchPTR16 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR updates 20-23: buildings and walls on 31 maps, smoother monsters, Charge fix (test build)

Buildings and walls on 29 more maps: floors, bridges, piers, stairs and walls now count for monsters on 31 maps in total (Hodemimes and most fields and dungeons around it and beyond). A monster only notices you when it can see you, cannot hit you through a wall or from another floor, and walks around walls and up stairs to reach you.

Smoother monsters near buildings: a monster blocked by a wall no longer repeats its path checks every moment (less server load when many monsters are pulled at once), and a monster that cannot find its way back home after a drop now returns within about 8 seconds instead of getting stuck.

Charge (was Bash): if your character had Charge above level 5, it is now set to level 5 so you can use it again, and the skill points you paid for the levels above 5 come back to you.

No new client this time.

PTR update 19: buildings and walls, Charge and the new Bash, Fatal Blow LP, headgear drops (test build)

Buildings and walls (Hodemimes and Outside Hodemimes): floors, bridges, piers, stairs and walls now count for monsters. A monster only notices you when it can see you, cannot hit you through a wall or from another floor, and walks around walls and up stairs to reach you. A monster that cannot reach you near a building gives up after 8 seconds. More areas follow.

Charge (was Bash): the old Bash is now called Charge. Highest level 5, 7 seconds cooldown, half the damage, gives no LP. The rush and pulling the monster's attention stay. If you had more than 5 points in it, you get a free skill reset.

Bash (new): a quick sword strike brought back from the original game, with the old Bash's numbers and levels. Reach 3 m, every Bash that hits gives 1 LP (up to 5).

Fatal Blow: now needs at least 1 LP. 1 LP = 250% of your attack, every extra LP adds 40% (5 LP = 410%). It still spends all your LP.

Experience: a monster below your level gives 10% less experience for every level it is below you, but never less than 10%.

Headgears: 964 headgears can now drop. Each one is a rare drop (0.5%) from monsters around its wear level, at most 3 headgears per monster.

Shield of Desire cape: now shows its real texture in both looks.

New client: the launcher updates it for you. Restart the game after the update.

Test realm - not the live game

PTR update 18: Fatal Blow, Bash and LP, melee height, an experience bonus and tougher monsters (test build)

Fatal Blow (new Swordsman skill): from job level 2, one skill point, long sword. You leap up and strike one enemy within 3 m for 250% of your attack. It spends all your LP: every LP adds 40% (up to 5 LP = 450%). Against an enemy below 35% health it hits 1.5 times as hard. 12 SP, 6 seconds cooldown, with its own hit effect and sound on the enemy.

LP: every Bash that hits gives you 1 LP (up to 5). Normal attacks no longer give LP.

Moving HP Recovery: removed from the Swordsman. If you had put a point into it, the free skill reset gives it back.

Bash: a monster that walks away from you is now hit the moment you reach it. A passive monster turns on you when your Bash lands, and it always fights back.

Melee height: you and a monster can only hit each other up close when you stand on about the same ground. A monster far below you, for example under a pier, can no longer hit you, and you cannot hit it.

Experience bonus: a monster above your level gives 10% more experience for every level it is above you, up to double.

Monsters: 10% more health and slightly stronger attacks.

New client: the launcher updates it for you. Restart the game after the update.

PatchPTR15 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR update 17: experience above your head, real experience numbers, skill tooltips per level, quests and a stability fix (test build)

Experience above your head: the experience you earn floats above your character again, with the same numbers as the chat line.

Experience numbers: the status window and the experience bar now show your actual experience and what you need for the next level (for example 312 / 970), instead of a much larger number.

Skill tooltips: hover over a skill to see what every level of it gives (damage, healing, SP cost and more), in English and Korean.

Quests: three Cognito quests can be finished again: the toxic drum near Cognito Harbor, the flowers for Chayenne in Cognito Town and the leaked boxes for Portman.

Coralictus: the ones that were placed in odd spots now swim in the water with the others.

Server stability: a rare case where the server could get stuck, when a player moved at the same moment another player in the party killed a monster for a shared quest, is fixed.

New client: the launcher updates it for you. Restart the game after the update.

NewsPTR14 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR update 16: adjusted experience message, Thief skills, the made staff in 2006 mode (test build)

Experience message: the chat line after a kill now shows the experience you actually earned (for example "You gained 2 base / 2 job experience"), instead of a number that changed with your level.

Thief: Short Sword Mastery is back in the Thief's skill list. Stone Fling is now called Throw Stone. It reaches 20 m, the same as Bash, and you can throw it from any side, not only from behind the monster.

2006 look: the made staff and the made bow no longer turn into a flat grey shape in 2006 mode (or after switching back from it).

New client: the launcher updates it for you. Restart the game after the update.

NewsPTR14 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR update 15: Cognito quest boards, quest 423, Magnum Break message (test build)

Cognito quest boards: "Poster-Removal Work" (379) and "It's Fine, We're Friends" (419) now appear on the Cognito Quest Board once you have finished the quest before them. "Gretchel Ortrud's Tasty Bread" (370) no longer disappears from the board for characters of level 34 and higher.

Quest 423 now asks for all three deliveries instead of finishing after the first one.

Magnum Break: when it cannot be used because your HP is too low, it no longer says you lack SP.

Bash: small fixes so walking right after a Bash sprint stays smooth.

No new client this time: you do not need to restart the launcher.

Client updatePTR14 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR client update: gear in its real 2006 look (test build)

2006 mode: gear now shows its 2006 look. Capes, armour and other gear with a 2006 version no longer turn into one flat colour when you switch to 2006 mode; you see the original 2006 texture with its shading. Gear whose look we could not match safely keeps its 2007 texture for now.

PTR update 14: Bash keeps your position, faster sitting recovery, stronger monsters (test build)

Swordsman: after Bash's sprint the server now knows where you stopped. Monsters no longer walk back to the spot where you started the skill.

Faster recovery while sitting: sitting gives 10% of your maximum HP and SP every 3 seconds. Standing recovery stays as before.

Monsters are a little stronger again: their attack goes up from 50% to 55%.

No new client this time: you do not need to restart the launcher.

NewsPTR14 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR update 13: 100 starting stat points, full experience, Bash reaches 20 m (test build)

More stat points from the start: every character now starts with 100 stat points instead of 48. Each level still gives the same points as before. Characters you already have get the 52 extra points as free points the next time you log in.

Full experience from every monster: a monster below your level now gives its full experience. Before, monsters a few levels below gave less, and nothing at 6 or more levels below.

Swordsman: Bash now reaches up to 20 m instead of 10 m.

Potions on the run: drinking a potion while walking no longer stops your character for a moment.

Close and reopen the launcher and choose PTR to get the update.

NewsPTR14 October 2026

PTR update 11: Bash sprints, Rapid Run is back, fewer freezes (test build)

Swordsman: Bash now sprints to the monster and strikes, with the run, slash and sound of the old Charge Attack. It reaches up to 10 m. Its damage, SP cost and 1 second cooldown stay the same.

Thief: Rapid Run is back. Find Stone moved to another skill slot and works as before. A Thief who had put a point into Find Stone now sees that point on Rapid Run: a free skill point reset for Swordsman and Thief follows in a coming update.

Fewer short freezes:

  • Reviving no longer shows a loading screen (the one second freeze after a revive).
  • Closed windows no longer slow the game down during fights.
  • The character window opens faster the first time.

Close and reopen the launcher and choose PTR to get the update.

NewsPTR14 October 2026

Test realm - not the live game

PTR update 10: 1 zeny start, a clearer stat window (test build)

This update follows the stat check of this morning.

A new character now starts with exactly 1 zeny. Before it was 151: the old starter skill book was swapped for its price at the first login. New characters no longer get that book.

The new stat window shows what the fights use:

  • Guns show the damage range the shots really roll (a level 1 gun showed 1 to 3, the shots rolled 0 to 3).
  • Bonuses to ranged attack now count for guns too.
  • The old stat window now shows the Blessing and Increase AGI bonuses.

The stat window has a new line, Chance: small bonuses to hit, dodge and critical chance that count in fights but are too small for the whole numbers above, in tenths of a percent (for example hit +0.4%).

Lucky dodge shows one decimal: FLEE 14 + 1.1 instead of + 1.

Close and reopen the launcher and choose PTR to get the update.

PTR update 9: smoother buffs, potions on the run, a starter kit (test build)

This update is the list from the first evening of Acolyte testing on the PTR.

The Acolyte's staff now shows at once after a job switch (no relog needed), and the character selection shows the staff too.

Increase AGI and Angelus are cast like Blessing: no cast time, no wait, the same quick move. Before: 1 second and 0.5 seconds of cast time, 1 second and 3.5 seconds of wait.

Angelus can be cast on another player (reach 1500): it protects the player you chose and your own party.

Increase AGI, Blessing and Angelus show their own icon with the bonus and the time that is left.

All players have 25 percent more HP and SP, and HP and SP come back 10 percent faster.

A new character starts with 100 Low Red Potions, a Farmer's Hat and a Laboratory Potion (a stat reset), and with much less zeny than the 10,000 before.

A second job starts at base level 5 for characters made from now on. Characters that exist already keep their second jobs as they are.

Potions no longer stop you: you keep running and drink on the move.

Thunderstorm's bolts fall on the place you aimed at. Nothing flies from the caster any more and nothing bursts on the caster.

A drawn staff has a backwards walk now, for the Acolyte and the Enchanter. It is borrowed from the short sword, the staff stays in your hand.

Double Attack shows its two quick cuts when a hit doubles.

Hiding can be used while walking: you stay hidden while you walk, and it keeps costing SP. An attack or a skill ends it as before.

A frozen monster now stands still inside the ice.

Known: the buff texts and the Korean texts are drafts. Numbers are still being tuned. Tell us what feels wrong.

Close and reopen the launcher and choose PTR to get the update.

PTR update 8: the Acolyte, Frost Diver and Sight (test build)

The Clown is now the Acolyte. The job has its new name in the character selection, the character window, the Jobs window and the skill window.

Every Acolyte carries a staff and casts with it. It is a look only: your weapon keeps its own numbers, and in another job it shows as before.

Increase AGI, Blessing and Angelus have new looks: the lettering AGI UP!, the cherub and the bell. Heal keeps its green light.

The Acolyte's skills cost SP only: no LP is needed, and Cure, Blessing and Angelus no longer ask for the battle stance.

Frost Diver is new to look at: the Enchanter leaps and spins, a streak of ice runs over the ground to the enemy, and a frozen enemy is closed in a block of ice until it thaws or is hit.

Sight is new: 10 SP, no cast time. A fire ball circles you for 10 seconds and shows hidden players near you.

Bash and the other swing skills can be used again after 1 second (it was more than 2).

Fire Wall: the push-back was rebuilt. A monster that touches the wall should be thrown back each time. Tell us if one still walks through fire that burns.

Known: a frozen monster still plays its standing animation inside the ice. The Acolyte's staff has no walking and no running-backwards move yet. Numbers are still being tuned. Korean texts are drafts.

PTR update 6: new job skills (test build)

Swordsman: Bash, Magnum Break, Provoke, Endure, Sword Mastery, Increase HP Recovery, Moving HP Recovery.

Thief: Double Attack, Improve Dodge, Steal, Hiding, Envenom, Detoxify, Sand Attack, Find Stone, Stone Fling.

Enchanter: Fire Bolt, Cold Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Napalm Beat, Soul Strike, Fire Ball, and two spells you place on the ground: Fire Wall and Thunderstorm. Press the skill, aim with the ring, click. Escape cancels.

Skills that left your job's list give their points back once at login.

Potions: Red, Orange, Yellow, White and Blue Potions are sold in the shops and have no cooldown.

Known: no job can heal others until the Acolyte arrives. Numbers are still being tuned. Fire Wall's push-back does not show correctly yet. Korean texts are drafts.

Fixed: a memory problem that stopped logins after the server had been up for a long time.

Close and reopen the launcher and choose PTR to get the update.

PTR update notes, 12 October

PTR AegisRO2 is our test realm for Ragnarok Online 1 style stats. These notes are for the test realm only. None of these changes is in the live game yet.

Combat and recovery

  • SP now keeps recovering while you attack. It ticks every 8 seconds standing or 4 seconds sitting.
  • Successful attacks used to restart the SP wait, even when they cost 0 SP. Repeated attacks could stop recovery completely.
  • HP still stops recovering during a fight. Outside combat, it ticks every 6 seconds standing or 3 seconds sitting.

Potions and food

  • Low Red Potion, Red Potion and Super Red Potion: 0 seconds cooldown.
  • Low Yellow Potion, Yellow Potion, High Yellow Potion and Super Yellow Potion: 0 seconds cooldown.
  • Low White Potion, White Potion and Super White Potion: 0 seconds cooldown.
  • Adventurer Potion: 0 seconds cooldown.
  • These potions no longer inherit a 180 second countdown from other items.
  • Peach Juice and Fresh Crab: reuse wait 180 seconds -> 0 seconds. Their missing timer used to hide a server wait.
  • Wind Potion: movement speed +20 percent for 90 seconds. Reuse wait 180 seconds -> 0 seconds.

  • The normal 0.5 second pause after using an item or skill still applies.

Skills

  • We restored the older cooldowns for skills that spend all your LP. Below are the first and highest ranks changed. The numbers are displayed cooldowns; the old server wait followed your attack speed.

Area skills

  • New in PTR update 4: area skill damage is shared only over the targets really hit. This covers Magnum Break, Gust Cutting, Clean Cut and Fire Breath.
  • Magnum Break at rank 1, hitting 1 target: 50 percent -> 150 percent of ATK before defence. With 2 targets, each takes 75 percent; with 3 targets, each takes 50 percent.

Test realm - not the live game

The PTR is open: try the new stats and combat

PTR AegisRO2 is a public test realm. It is open to everyone, to try Ragnarok Online 1 style stats and combat before anything changes on live. The live game keeps running unchanged. Everyone starts with a new level 1 character. What you do on the PTR stays on the PTR. It is a test: things may break or change, and PTR characters may be wiped. There is room for 50 players at a time.

Access

  • Start the launcher. It updates itself to version 1.0.7.
  • Click PTR at the top left. The launcher downloads a separate copy of the game (about 4.6 GB). Then click PLAY PTR.
  • Your live game is not touched.
  • Log in with your normal account name and password. A new account or a changed password reaches the PTR within a few minutes.
  • The PTR is in English. The Korean wording of the new skill texts is still being checked.

Stats

  • STR makes your close attacks stronger.
  • AGI makes you dodge more and attack faster.
  • VIT gives you more HP and takes more off physical hits.
  • INT gives stronger magic, more magic defence, more SP and faster SP recovery.
  • DEX makes you hit more often, makes ranged attacks stronger and shortens casting.
  • LUK gives more critical hits and lucky dodges against normal physical attacks.
  • You start with 48 stat points and earn more with every level.
  • Open the Character window, press + and then Apply. The higher a stat, the more points the next step costs.
  • Each job keeps its own stats.

Combat

  • ASPD is your attack speed: higher means faster normal attacks. AGI and DEX raise it.
  • HIT is your accuracy, FLEE is your dodging.
  • A critical hit ignores the accuracy roll and physical defence.
  • Armour takes a percentage off a normal physical hit, then VIT takes off a bit more.
  • Magic sets your MATK against the target's MDEF. It has no accuracy roll.
  • Many attack skills deal a percentage of your ATK or MATK. Heal grows with its level and your INT.

Recovery

  • HP does not recover by itself while you fight. SP still does.
  • Sitting makes both recover twice as fast.
  • The standard HP and SP potions heal their whole amount at once and have no cooldown. VIT makes HP potions heal more, INT does the same for SP potions.

Levelling

  • Monsters give two times the Ragnarok Online 1 experience. Base levels need what they needed there, up to level 50.
  • Job levels have their own table. A Novice can keep gaining job levels up to 50.
  • A monster below your level gives less experience, and none from 6 levels below.
  • In a party, living members in range share experience equally, with 25% extra for each additional attacker.
  • A stat reset potion gives back the stat points of your current job.

Monsters

  • Monsters keep their levels and places. They have Ragnarok Online 1 sized HP and hit at full strength.

Feedback

  • Tell us what feels wrong: use the bug button in the game or "Report a problem" in the launcher.

Start the launcher to get the update.
